TV tonight: 'NCIS,' 'DWTS,' 'Rizzoli & Isles'
Posted November 26, 2012
CBS, 8 ET/PT
Here's an idea: How about if one of the broadcast networks finds a series role for Alex Kingston, a fine actor and a beautiful, mature woman who has never been as well-served by American TV as she deserves to be. (And that counts being saddled for all those ER years with Mark Greene, one of the dreariest characters ever to mope his way around an emergency room.) Until someone does, though, you can catch her on NCIS as a woman with "questionable morals" — sort of like Moll Flanders, the role that first brought Kingston to American viewers' attention.
Dancing With the Stars
ABC, 9 ET/PT
Old contestants will return, the remaining Stars will compete one last time, and then the mirror ball (surely the ugliest trophy on TV) will be awarded. Clearly, this is a show that gives a lot of people a lot of pleasure, but you can't help thinking it would be a far more enjoyable series if the contestants were judged as the eager amateurs they are, rather than as some combination of Anna Pavlova and Cyd Charisse reborn. Oh, and replacing all three judges wouldn't hurt. But for those who disagree, and most viewers probably do, enjoy.
Rizzoli & Isles
TNT, 9 ET/PT
On the other hand, there's no need to replace the stars of Rizzoli & Isles — Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander are both fine. The writing is often another matter, but who knows, perhaps tonight's season premiere will mark the beginning of a turnaround.
