What a classy joint! Housed in the space that was formerly Red Room, Spoon serves up drool-worthy American contemporary cuisine. Super star chef Brian Pekarcik shows his chops with a well-rounded, menu of hot/cold appetizers, entrees, etc. (sides) & desserts. For a less seasoned pro like myself, the wine list could be a bit overwhelming, though I'm sure regular afficionados will be thrilled with the wide selection of reds, whites & roses.
Their logo reads fresh, local & modern, and after tasting the food it's evident they've hit the nail on the head! I had the local heirloom tomato soup as an appetizer and was lost in the smokey, subtle layers of flavor. For an entree, I had the grilled filet and braised beef short ribs. Wowzer. The meat was cooked to perfection and fresh vegetable sides were perfectly paired. Dessert brought on a nice sized serving of angel food cake with almond brittle and honey whipped cream. While it was delicious, I have to say that my friend's choice trumped mine three-fold. Chocolate Three Ways..these three magic words appeared before us as a chocolate truffle beignet, a shot of milk chocolate milk and dark chocolate mousse with pistachio granola. We were stunned into silence by this dish (not an easy task, believe me).
Overall, my experience here was top notch. Our server was FANTASTIC and charmed us with her understated, non-pretentious attitude. With its luxurious, dark interior, great location and fabulous food, Spoon knocks all other utensils out of the drawer.
