Despite the lack of vowels in its name, new spot Brgr in East Liberty fills the void of trendy, gourmet burger bistro in the Burgh. Attached to sleek, upscale Spoon, Brgr is like the little kid sister who doesn't want to sit with the adults. Not to say that the decor isn't grown up with dark wood, soft lighting and plush booths. As for the burgers, they're thick and juicy, with two options on how you'd like them to be prepared: pink or not pink. Diners have a plethora of delicious options to choose from, including a Shroomz Burger with forest mushrooms, carmalized onions and brie cheese. Veggies can opt for the Tree Hugger with lentils, falafal, cucumber, tomato and goats milk yogurt. Additionally, there are a few salad options and sides including sweet potato fries, fried pickles and truffle mac and cheese (one side easily feeds two). And even if burgers aren't your thing, the option of a Spiked Milkshake or Float just might sway you. Overall, the vibe is more mellow than ultra-hip, and I was personally impressed with the rock and roll playlist. I mean, who wouldn't want to chomp on a juicy burger while listening to Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and the Black Keys?

Eh. I don’t feel strongly about it either way. I don’t hate it or love it, I wouldn’t recommend it or dismiss it, it just is.
