I was a bit hesitant to come here based on some less than stellar reviews, but it was my man's first choice for his bday dinner AND we had a Groupon, so it was time to give the old spot on the River's Edge a try.
First off, the interior of this place is lovely, warm and inviting with soft lighting and bright colors on the walls. While the decor doesn't exactly scream Mediterranean, it was pleasant nonetheless. We were seated at a small, somewhat cramped table near the bar, but we had the view of the river, which was quite nice.
Our waitress was charming, albeit a bit uniformed about the menu. She did, however, go and find answers to all of our questions in a prompt, friendly manner and was attentive throughout the meal.
The food itself was AMAZING! For an appetizer we shared the grilled artichokes, which were a tad on the oily side, but still tasty. I had the Paella Valencia, which consisted of clams, mussels, chorizo, lobster, chicken and saffron rice. The flavors were strong and consistent, and everything was cooked just right. My boyfriend had Cioppino Portugues, a hearty stew with seafood and a rich dark broth.
My overall experience at Barcelona at River's Edge was great. Great food, good service and pleasing ambiance. Not sure what all of the negative reviews are about...I know I'm looking forward to going back for more!
